NNPC Appoints Andy Odeh, Morenike Adewunmi, to Helm Communications and Relations Sections
Shaking up its top leadership, NNPC Limited has named two seasoned executives, Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, to pivotal roles. The move sees Mr. Odeh stepping in as the Chief Corporate Communications Officer and Mrs. Adewunmi taking on the title of Chief Relations Officer. The appointments are a clear signal of the company’s commitment to enhancing its public image and strengthening its ties with stakeholders.

Andy Odeh: A Communications Maverick
With a career spanning over three decades, Andy Odeh is a well-known figure in Nigeria’s corporate communications and energy sectors. Prior to this new role, he carved out a remarkable 26-year legacy at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he demonstrated a versatile skill set across various departments, including Community Relations, Government Relations, and Public Affairs. Odeh’s career highlights at NLNG include spearheading a successful company rebranding and establishing one of Nigeria’s most effective micro-credit schemes for host communities. He was also instrumental in the creation of the prestigious NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, a testament to his commitment to fostering excellence in journalism. A distinguished alumnus of the University of Jos and the University of Lagos, Odeh’s expertise is backed by a solid educational foundation.
Morenike Adewunmi: A Legal and Relations Powerhouse
Joining him is Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, a legal luminary with over 25 years of experience, primarily honed during her extensive tenure at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). Known for her exceptional ability to manage complex external relationships and ensure regulatory compliance, Adewunmi is a master of stakeholder advocacy and navigating the intricate “license to operate” challenges within the oil and gas sector. At Shell, she held significant roles, including Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager, where she cultivated and maintained crucial relationships with the Presidency, various ministries, and government agencies. Adewunmi is celebrated for her strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and ability to build robust networks, making her a formidable force in managing non-technical risks. She brings a wealth of legal knowledge, having graduated from the Nigerian Law School and Olabisi Onabanjo University.
