Who is Amoye Adeyemi Sodiq?
Adeyemi Sodiq Opeyemi (Ph.D), affectionately and widely known as Amoye Adeyemi Sodiq, is a distinguished Nigerian scholar, humanitarian, and visionary leader whose life reflects the perfect blend of academic brilliance, community service, and progressive aspirations. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a man committed to knowledge, service, and human development; traits that have endeared him to people across different walks of life.
Early Life and Upbringing
Born into a humble yet values-driven family of Adeoye Adeyemi on 27th December 1985 at Ile-Olola Compound, Bornphoto, Ibadan. He grew up in an environment emphasising hard work, discipline, and integrity at Oja’ba, the centre of Ibadan. From an early age, he displayed exceptional curiosity, a deep sense of empathy, and a passion for solving problems around him. His childhood was marked by active participation in community life, leadership roles among his peers, and a natural ability to inspire trust and respect.
Education
Adeyemi’s educational journey is a testament to his determination and love for learning. His academic foundation began at A.U.D Primary School, Oyo State (1994–1999) and Oke-Bola Comprehensive High School, Oyo (1999–2005). His quest for knowledge took him to Ekiti State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology Education (2014). He furthered his studies at the University of Ibadan, obtaining a Master of Science in Zoology (Animal Physiology) in 2018, followed by a Diploma in Computer Studies. Always eager to sharpen his expertise, Adeyemi pursued advanced international training, enrolling at the University of Reading, United Kingdom year 2021 for his Ph.D and researching on venom toxicology and muscle regeneration. Career and Professional
He began his teaching career as a Biology Teacher in various institutions, including Nesto College Oyo, Treasure Model School (Owode), Solace College (Jos, during NYSC), and Ar-Rahman Guidance College, Sango Ota.
In 2016, he joined Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo (then College of Education) as an Assistant Lecturer till he rose to a Lecturer II in the Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science. He nurtures the younger one to become a leader and he is renowned for his teaching innovations, including the design, modelling, and improvisation of teaching materials that enhance practical science learning.
His research spans toxicology, venom effects on muscle physiology, regenerative biology, and public health education. Adeyemi has presented at multiple national and international conferences, including the 10th International Venoms & Toxins Conference (Oxford, UK) and the School of Biological Sciences Conference (University of Reading, UK).
He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and conference papers on topics ranging from ethnobotanical medicine to venom toxicology. Notable works include:
