“We want to Remain United to have a Common Front” Idere Descendant Vanguard President


In an online interactive segment with the President Idere Descendant Vanguard (IDV), Dr Olagbenro Eyitayo on Monday said the people of Idere want to remain united to have a common front.

The interactive session which was monitored by Ibarapa Bloggers Association.

Idere Descendant Vanguard is a group comprising indigenes of Idere between the ages of five to forty five years, it is the duty of IDV to ensure that there’s unity in the land as said by the President.

Olagbenro said this while explaining the purpose of Idere Agbajo Annual festival which is coming up second week of November.

“Agbajowo lafi n soya, ajoji owo kan o gberu dori which means unity in diversity not in dichotomy. The above expression is what originated the purpose of the annual festival”.

“In the olden days, our forefathers will host the neighboring communities to preach love and unity through the annual festival. Idere suru, oko ilu banta banta, as small as the community is, the unity we exhibit makes other people cherish us”, the President added.

He said, Idere Agbajo Annual festival is a social cultural event purposely to unite the people of Idere and neighboring communities.

The IDV President also state some of the group achievement such as procurement of NECO forms for the community secondary school students over the years, donation of relief materials during COVID-19, commencement of Onidere Palace construction.

Also at the interactive session, we have the Chairman Planning Committee of Idere Agbajo Festival, Mr Oluseun Leke.
