Tope Alabi, Popular Nigerian Gospel Musician Recieves Huge Criticism From Her Audience

Tope Alabi is a well known musician in the Nigeria gospel industry, there’s no active music listener that wouldn’t know her. She is so famous in and outside the country. Her musical works have been in existence more than a decade. But, of recently she digressed  from  her pattern of singing and way of dressing just to fit in to the modern way of life youths nowadays live.

Last year during lockdown, she was heavily criticised during her father’s funeral with the way she dressed when she was performing on stage. Another vilification came in when she sang an intoxicating song using Jesus in an inappropriate way of passing information. This sprang up so many controversial issues in the Nigerian Gospel industry. Some people even said, she has allowed wordly things to get into her head without caring about her primary assignment again.

Another issue came up yesterday when she heavily tongue-lashed a fellow Gospel musician, Yinka Alaseyori, ‘Oniduro crooner’. It should be noted that she heavily criticised the choice of words the singer used. She went further to say that; “God is not guarantor of anybody, the word is too frail to be used”. She went further to narrate how she wanted to sing the song at a time but Holy spirit directed her not to use the word because the word is too weak.

The social media today has been shut down by the criticism this Gospel singer had  received. Some Nigerians said, she’s trying to bring the person down because the song is spirit feeled while some said she doesn’t want another person to outshine her.
