People cannot empathise without anybody because they don’t go through what the person goes through.
Nigerians don’t know that ASUU members are also students.
They don’t know ASUU members are also parents of university students.
They don’t know ASUU members are spouses of university students.
They don’t know that ASUU members were owed 8 years of EAA Allowances before the strike.
They don’t know that ASUU members overwork because they cater for more students than their condition of service require them to.
They don’t know that many ASUU members are already dead as a result of exhaustion from overwork beyond their condition of service. For example, why should they supervise more than 5 graduate students when that is the number that the condition of service stipulates.
WHAT STILL AMAZES ME IS WHY MANY ASUU MEMBERS BELIEVE THAT THEY SHOULD CONTINUE TO USE THEIR BLOOD TO SUSTAIN THE SYSTEM WHEN NO ONE EITHER SYMPATHISE OR EMPATHISE WITH THEM? PURE PATRIOTISM? MAYBE.
