Security; a key and vital factor for the sustainability of economic prosperity, is hugely invested in by every serious government and communal stakeholders. It becomes highly questionable of any government that fails to ensure the security of life and properties of people within its territorial boundary. We have seen how insecurity led some states and countries to economic slump. And how security has provided a sustainable environment for economic outgrowth of some countries and States’ economy.
The present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, is mobilising heavy security forces against terrorism, civil unrest and any form of insecurity across the Federation. Also advocating for foreign and local investment to improve the Nigerian economy and in turn better the lives of Nigerians. It was a widely spread news when the late Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tahoreed Lagbaja led Nigerian troops to a popular terrorist base in Northern Nigeria on the instruction of the president. Recently, we watched Mr president advocating for the economic outgrowth of Nigeria and Africa at the G20 submit. And of course, that is fundamentally required of a serious and purpose driven government.
It’s quite unfortunate that the serene and peaceful environment of Osun is being threatened under the present administration of PDP and Ademola Adeleke. An Executive Governor of a state who is supposed to be mostly concerned about the social and economic stability of the state suddenly turned out to become an advocate who is demanding for the release of an allegedly suspect,a man named Mr Alowonle, the chairman of Osun State Transport Scheme(an appointee of Mr. Governor). He was seen moving in the streets of Osogbo with firearms and bullets.
Following his arrest by the men of Nigerian Police Force, there was unrest which led to economic disturbance in the state and restriction of movement in some parts of Oshogbo. It’s very heartbreaking that the Osun state government under Sen. Ademola Adeleke has not been able to make any noticeable improvement in the economy of Osun despite the increase in Federal Allocation, Relief Funds from the Federal Government and Corporate Bodies.Yet, it harbors suspected figures in the state, to the extent of directing the state’s Police Commissioner to carry out the transfer and persecution of an officer who has over time been diligent with his professional job.
Concern, I am perturbed over the silence of the citizens over this “life menacing” issue. The attempt of young fellows in Osun trying to defend such criminality is satanic. Anyways,it might be because of their affiliation with the person in question or other personal and group related courses. However, what is important to note is that when things of this nature become rampant and turn to the identity of a society, such a society is abstained from economic and social development thereby increasing poverty and unemployment rate.
As a passionate citizen of Osun, I urge the government of Sen. Ademola Adeleke to not interfere in the professional work of the Anti-Kidnapping unit of Nigerian Police Force any longer. Which by his interference and granting undue favour to the “culprits” will give an atrocious and heinous signal about Osun to the outside world and our state will continue to experience chaos and retardedness. Enough of political discrepancy and chronic governance in Osun.
