PDP Congress: Group Condemns attack on Reporter by Security Aide to Water Corporation Chairman
A group of Ibarapa Online News Reporter has condemn the attack on the correspondence of Idere Update which happened on Saturday at the De Link hotel.
The reporter was at De Link hotel in Idere to cover the activities of the PDP Ward Congress where he was humiliated by the security aide to the Chairman Oyo State Water Corporation Board, Dr Anthony Adepoju popularly known as Ibarapa kan.
Tolu Oduola, a reporter of IdereUpdate was humiliated and his mobile phone seized by the security aide.
The spokesperson of Ibarapa Online News Reporter said it is very disheartening to witness such attack in this present era when democracy should be well propagated, therefore condemn in totality.
SpyGist reliably gathered from one of the loyalist of the Chairman Oyo State Water Corporation, Dr Anthony Adepoju, Sunday Ogunjimi who claimed that the security was doing his job. He also said the reporter is even a close person that the party.
IdereUpdate had earlier reported that the security personnel identified as Jegede was said to have attacked the reporter who was at the hospitality industry on Saturday and seized his phone.
Narrating the gross harassment from the security detail of the 2023 Ibarapa Central/North House of Representatives hopeful, the correspondent disclosed that the security personnel told him he was being punished over the viral Idere Update report on the oath taken by some delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Igangan ahead of the party’s Congress.
The correspondent revealed that the whole incident started when he (Ibarapa Kan) was making his way out of the hotel where he had gone to hold political meeting with some of his loyalists in the local government area.
“All efforts to retrieve the mobile phone from the security agent proved abortive,” the correspondent said.
Idere Update had on Friday reported how Adepoju brought ram to Igangan on Thursday and asked the delegates of the party to take an oath that he would not be betrayed in the party’s Congress holding today and the PDP’s primaries in the Constituency come next year.
