Oyo University Students Protest Non-release of Results, Condemn Revalidation Exercise

Students of Ekiti State University affiliated with Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, Oyo State, on Tuesday protested the non-release of results for two semesters in the last academic session in the institution and condemned totally the revalidation exercise for students instituted by the management.

The students, who locked the college entrance, said the management should release their results to enable them know where they stands in the last session.

The protesters shut the campus main gate at Erelu, preventing workers from entering the campus.

The students vowed not to come for the revalidation until results are released.

Fashola Afeez Olamide (Chairman Board of Presidents) told our correspondent that the students are tired of oppression by the management of our institution.

He said: “am standing on behalf of my people against all oppression of the management. We have been making so much agitations on what is paining us as students, of which none of them is given consideration”.

“They are calling for revalidation now, and if any student fails to do it, management can delist such student. For two consecutive semesters we have not seen our results and you are calling us for revalidation”.

Another student of the institution, Boluwatife Oluwafisayo said “as students, we have formidable demands, our managements released a memo for us like a month ago that all students should vacate the school, that we shall be communicated, up till date we have not hear about the resumption. Days ago, we got another memo that we should come for revalidation exercise even when we are yet to have our last session results, the question now is after revalidation where do we go back to, to our parents our back to school”.

Agriculture Department President of the institution, Sen. Ayelabola Ridwan said, “we are organizing the peaceful protest because of our pending results for 2020/2021 academic session, have never heard of any institution where such happen that you will proceed to another session without having the previous results”.

“We are calling on the management to release our previous results, the President added”.
