Oyo Speaker Condemns kidnap of Female CEO In Eruwa, Summons Emergency Security Meeting
The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has condemned the recent kidnap of a female Chief Executive Officer in Eruwa, Mrs Olayemi Raliat Rasheed.
The CEO who was kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen was released few days after.
The Speaker in a statement sympathized with the woman and appreciated God for her safe release.
He said the incident again brought to the fore the situation in our country and the need for everyone to work with security agents towards reducing such criminal act to the barest minimum.
Hon Ogundoyin hinted that an emergency security meeting which will involve all stakeholders including the Local Government, traditional rulers, security agencies (Amotekun inclusive), youth, elders and Government officials has been summoned.
According to the Speaker, this will allow for a comprehensive briefing from the security agents while also affording each and everyone the opportunity of reviewing the security strategies as well as coming out with more ways of securing ourselves.
” I want to say unequivocally that the kidnap of our own versatile and resourceful CEO of DEC Event Centre in Eruwa is a condemnable and despicable act perpetrated by some evil minded elements in our midst. We shall not fold our hands and allow our community to become another center of crime. To this end, we are ready to work with our security agencies towards fishing out those behind such evil.
” We will hold an emergency security summit and from there we shall hear from the stakeholders what the situation is like and what could be done to end such incident in future. I want to assure that we will double our efforts towards securing the lives and properties of our people ” Just as i gave all my support to the security agencies when our zone was under the siege of kidnappers and fulani herders, i am equally ready to give all necessary support towards making Eruwa, Lanlate and all adjoining communities safer and more secured.
” Recall that i presented fifteen brand new Motorcycles to indigenous Security outfits in Ibarapaland in June last year to enhance their mobility and operation in the arduous task of combating crimes and securing the lives and properties of our people. We will do more to protect the lives and properties of our people in both Eruwa and Lanlate ” Oyo Speaker stressed.
