Oyo And District Society of ICAN Organizes Catch Them Young Education Programme For Oyo Schools

…donates branded exercise books and writing materials to students

The Oyo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN has organized a “Catch Them Young” education programme for some selected secondary schools in Oyo town and environs.

The programme which was held at the Folorunsho Alakija Hall of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo featured the presentation of papers on “The Roadmap to Becoming Chartered Accountants” and “Career Opportunities as Chartered Accountant” delivered by Dcn. Fashipe, FCA and Mr. Amao Williams ACA respectively. Another icing on the programme was the sensitization on security awareness by the Nigeria Police Force and the Amotekun Security Outfit.

In her welcome address, the Chairperson, Oyo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Dr. Mrs. Aminat Aderonke Agoro, FCA thanked the leadership of the selected schools in Oyo town and environs for releasing their students for the programme which according to her was designed to catch them (the students) young and impact on their educational pursuit. “Oyo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN is poised to support our students in achieving their goals and this brought the ‘CATCH THEM YOUNG INITIATIVE’. I thank my fellow executive members for their unflinching support towards the realization of this noble dream. It is going to be a continuous programme and while I am thanking the leadership of schools and teachers, permit me to specially charge our students to take their academics more seriously”, the scientist-turned-accountant submitted.

About 400 students and their teachers partcipated from 27 secondary schools within Oyo township and environs while presentation of ICAN branded exercise books, pen and back pack were distributed to all participants by the leadership of the Oyo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN.

Dignitaries present at the historic event include High chief Yusuf Akinade Ayoola (Layinka 1), Basorun of Oyo and the Prime Minister to the Iku baba yeye. Mr Anifowose and Mr Adekunle (son of the source) from the Students Affairs department of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Security Outfit, teachers and students of invited schools from Oyo township and environs.

It would be recalled that the Oyo and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN had in the same spirit earlier organized a maiden edition of a programme titled FAME where students from various schools in Oyo township and environs engaged in a quiz competition where awards were presented to the best students in the schools.
