Oyo 2027: “Nigerians deserve the best, our politics deserves to be played and led by the best among us, we can’t be tired or keep quiet” ~ Dr Adewale Kolapo Kareem
Ahead of the 2027 general election, a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK 2027) has urged Nigerians in diaspora to come back home and give back to their communities.
Adewale who took to his social media page to share the article, opined that we must create a society that answers the call of the populace and defeats the interest of the selfish minority.
Here is the article in full;
I reflected on my recent musings on the subject “Let’s Come Home and Give Back to our Communities” , the deeper reflection into the existential imperative of crafting a society that resonates with the heartbeat of its people, rather than serving the selfish interests of a privileged minority. This introspection unearthed a profound truth: our collective well-being hangs in the balance.
The stark reality is that we must create a society that answers the call of the populace and defeats the interest of the selfish minority that usually aims to profit from the commonwealth and collective entitlement of the majority.
The relentless tide of migration (japa), especially among the young and old, persists as a nagging concern. The alarming statistics of medical practitioners fleeing our shores, abandoning a healthcare system crying out for expertise, is merely one manifestation of this phenomenon. This trend underscores the urgent need to address the systemic flaws driving our brightest minds and most talented individuals away. The prevalence of traveling out of the country, consistent consideration for this among the young people and even the old, remains what it is – a menace that doesn’t look good for the country.
I firmly believe the Nigerian people deserve the very best leadership, one that prioritises their welfare and well-being. While I acknowledge the allure of seeking better opportunities abroad, I personally experience life overseas, but strongly remain committed to giving back to my community. I advocate for others to follow suit. I am not outrightly against traveling out in search of a better life, but I remain consistent in returning home and providing my little best for our people as a form of giving back.
But we must not shy away from calling the attention of our leadership to do the right thing in terms of providing a beautiful atmosphere that supports the citizens and even discourages the urge to keep traveling out. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and the generations yet unborn to ensure our nation thrives.
Ideally, the ones who benefit most from the commonwealth are the minority, and in no rational or fair sense can that continue. Nigerians deserve the best; our politics deserves to be played and led by the best among us – the best in intellect, good conscience, fear of God, sound ideological backing, and understanding of what actually defines us as a people.
I am so confident in the intellectual strength and resolve of Nigerians to turn the country around for good and push for a system that works for all. We can’t be tired or keep quiet. This is our country, and it’ll remain so; we should make the best out of it. Let’s be full of thinking on these over the rest of the week.
