Okanlawon Felicitates Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja on 81st Birthday and Coronation as Olubadan of Ibadan

Ibadanland is in a celebratory mood as His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, marks his 81st birthday today, Thursday, 25th September 2025. The celebration comes just a day before his official coronation as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, 26th September 2025.

Ambassador Engr. Dr. David Olusegun Okanlawon, Chairman of the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) and Executive Director of Luli Construction Company, has joined dignitaries, family, and well-wishers in congratulating the new monarch on this historic double milestone.

In a statement released through his Media Aide, Sunday Adedokun Harshasha, Okanlawon extolled the grace of God upon Oba Ladoja, describing his life as a testimony of resilience, leadership, and divine favor. He noted that the monarch’s birthday today and coronation tomorrow represent a rare blessing for Ibadanland and its people.

“Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja is a man of destiny whose life reflects courage, wisdom, and service. His 81st birthday today and coronation tomorrow as the Olubadan of Ibadanland are testimonies of God’s faithfulness. We rejoice with him and pray for a reign of peace, unity, and prosperity,” Okanlawon said.

While acknowledging the generational gap between himself and the new Olubadan, Okanlawon emphasized the shared heritage that binds them. Both are proud alumni of the prestigious Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, though not contemporaries. They also share a professional background in engineering, though separated by age and era. Okanlawon stressed that these connections symbolize continuity across generations and reflect the enduring values of education, professionalism, and service to society.

Born on 25 September 1944 in Gambari village near Ibadan, Oba Ladoja’s life has been defined by excellence in education, business, politics, and now traditional leadership. A former governor of Oyo State, he studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Liège, Belgium, before venturing into business and later politics. His coronation tomorrow crowns decades of service and dedication to his people.

As Ibadanland prepares for the historic coronation, Okanlawon prayed for God’s guidance and blessings upon the new monarch.
