No Delay in October Salaries, OAGF Dismisses Rumours on IPPIS Upgrade
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has debunked reports suggesting that the ongoing upgrade of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) will delay the payment of October salaries to federal workers.
In a statement released on Wednesday, OAGF spokesperson Bawa Mokwa clarified that the payroll upgrade is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, not a cause for disruption.
According to the agency, IPPIS previously ran on three different payroll platforms. One of them was successfully migrated to the “SoftSuite” application in 2024, leaving two active systems — EBS and SoftSuite. Due to the subpar performance of the EBS platform, the government decided to consolidate all payroll functions under SoftSuite.
“This is not a new development but a continuation of an earlier initiative aimed at improving accuracy and efficiency,” the statement read.
OAGF assured that the integration process has been carefully managed and that any minor issues identified during the transition are being resolved without affecting salary schedules.
“The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation assures all federal workers that October salaries remain intact and will be paid as scheduled,” Mokwa said, urging Treasury and IPPIS personnel to disregard misleading reports not originating from the OAGF.
The agency further advised the public to rely only on official communications from the OAGF for verified updates.
As October winds down, civil servants across ministries, departments, and agencies have expressed relief following the official clarification.
