Nigeria @ 61: AYYCW Oyo Chairman Sends Independence Message to Nigerians

INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE BY COMRADE ADEDOKUN SUNDAY HARSHASHA, CHAIRMAN, ALLIANCE OF YORUBA YOUTHS COUNCIL WORLDWIDE (AYYCW) OYO STATE,  NIGERIA, ON THE OCCASION OF THE 61ST INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY.

Fellow Nigerians

I speak to you today as a concern citizen and on behalf of the youths that constitute larger percentage of our dear nation, on the occasion of our nation’s 61st Independence celebration. It’s imperative to awake the spirit of togetherness in each and everyone of us, no one can do it all alone, the more we are together, the more we achieve greatly.

As a concern citizen and representative of the youths, I wish to appreciate the patriotism of our youths and other citizens who believes in the future of this nation, those who are working with sincerity to have a united, developed and economy growing nation.

The  Nigerian youths ingenuity, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit is evident to all. Many of our nation’s youths are excelling, therefore making the nation proud in all spheres of life to include sports, entertainment, commerce, entrepreneurship, information, communication and technology which in turn makes them great achievers across the globe.

The security of our nation has been challenging over the years, thus inflating the demand for regionalization from some corner.

Demand for self determination isn’t the alternative to savage the situation, instead, we should device more input that will unite us and reinstate one Nigeria. Let’s not join them in the clamour for self determination or separation, there’s a better future in the unity of our dear nation.

I want to charge the youths to desist from the misuse of the social media. In recent times, have noticed that social media has caused us more harms the same way it has helped us. A lot of youths had ventured into using the social media to cause disunity with unverified information instituted by political differences.

Irrespective of the differences in our religion, custom, language and aspirations, we should come together as one indivisible group devoid of tribes, ethnicity and political class. The unity of this nation will hasten more growth on our economy.

We are calling on our government at all levels to do the needful, provision of security is very essential, empowerment for our youths especially the artisans and tradesmen, creation of job opportunities that will help our graduated youths to stay focused and avoid them from all form of social vices.

Furthermore, we demand for an inclusive government for all tribes and regions of Nigeria with fifty percent youths in charge of governance. Enough of using youths as political machineries, the dream our leaders have for their own children should be implemented on other youths too.

Our government should as a matter of urgency allocate more funds to the education sector so as to provide conducive learning environments at all levels of education, motivation in the payment of workers salaries, procurement of science equipments and other things needed for effective teaching and learning process.

However, we demand the release of our people that were victimized as a result of agitation for self determination such as Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, Nnamdi Kanu and others. They are not terrorists, if we can consider repentant Boko haram, it should not be difficult to our government to free the agitators and satisfy the demand of the people. The present situation of the nation dictates the demands of our people.

Finally, am urging the youths to be cautious against indulging in violent agitations and to always use dialogue as a means of achieving our demands. Violence cannot help us as a nation, if we criticize our government of their wrongs, the option should not be to vandalize.

May the souls of those who died mysteriously in the acts of blood-letting perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, armed robbers, boko haram and bandits, all as a result of insecurity continue to rest in perfect peace. We equally pray to God to restore peace to our nation. (Amen)

We have no other country than NIGERIA.

Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria
