Makinde Inaugurates Africa’s First Agric Electronic Centre

Engineer Oluseyi Makinde, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo state, commission the FarmKonnect multi-million dollar farm project.  The Governor was represented by the Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka.

Makinde while speaking through the Chief of Staff commended FarmKonnect for bringing such initiative that will change the face of agriculture in the nation and most especially Oyo State.

He said, the state government is working tirelessly to revive the Agric sector having strong belief that when fully harnessed and utilized, can spoke up the state economy and also provide millions of gainful employment opportunities to the youths in the state.

Ilaka added that, “we are the Pacesetter state, we are supposed to be home of new ideas, we expect our space to be dynamic and innovative. We want new idea that can flourish in the state. We hope a lot of people can emulate, replicate and build on this wonderful initiative.

This came as the current population of Nigeria is put at over 210million and African population put at over 1.3billion, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data.

Chief Executive Officer of FarmKonnect, Azeez Oluwole, at a press conference in Ibadan earlier described food as a form of security saying hungry people could easily take to criminal activities. He said the age long primitive approach to farming in Africa must give way progressively to a modern system because the primitive practice was no longer sustainable.

He urged policy makers and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector to adopt electronic data for the development of agriculture.
