INEC Nominations deadline: NNPP, AAC yet to make list

With two days to Nominations deadline for political parties to forward names of candidates on the independent electoral commission, INEC candidates nomination portal for the 2023 general elections, Rabiu kwankwaso’s New NIGERIA people’s party, NNPP and OMOYELE SOWORE’s African Action congress, AAC are yet to upload a single nomination.The National commissioner, information and voters education, Festus Okoye, in a statement said So far, the Commission has processed 6,995 nomination forms uploaded by 16 out of 18 political parties for the constituencies where they intend to sponsor candidates.

Okoye reminded all political parties that they have less than 72 hours left to upload their list of candidates to the ICNP as the deadline is slated for Friday 15th July 2022 when The portal will automatically be shut down at 6.00pm on that date.

The national Commissioner further noted that INEC has continuously responded to requests for the issuance of Certified True Copies, CTCs of documents mainly arising from the conduct of party congresses, primaries and nomination of candidates as The number of requests processed has now risen to 1,662,987 pages of documents.

INEC Spokesperson disclosed that 147 out of 476 requests has been processed as at on Wednesday, July 13th while 5,646 pages are yet to be collected by applicants.

The Commission however appealed to prospective litigants to come forward and collect the certifed copies of the documents.

The Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2023 General Election was released by the Commission on 26th February 2022, asking all political parties that conducted valid primaries to nominate their candidates for Governorship, Deputy Governorship and State Assembly elections via the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal, ICNP from 1st – 15th July 2022.
