
A young philanthropist and entrepreneur in Ibarapa, Gabriel Timileyin Michael popularly known as GTMike has proposed the need to use sports activities as a catalyst for the development and unity in the society.
Gabriel, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the GTMike Agro Ventures and the Founder of the Gabriel Foundation, also said sports could be used to further strengthen unity among the various quarters, towns, state and nation at large.
Speaking at the opening match of the first edition of the GTMike Agro Ventures Inter Quarters Competition at the football pitch of Ayete Grammar School, Ayete, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State,
The young philanthropist reiterated the importance of sports in the society, which he said was not limited to the sustenance of peace and harmony, bringing different groups of people together with the aim of bridging divides and empowering young people to develop skills and capabilities.
He stated that the organization decided to sponsor the football competition, not only to benefit the youths, but to enhance unity and promote togetherness in Ayete land.
While commending the organizing committees, the team players, the football officials, he appealed for peaceful coexistence and hitch free atmosphere during and after the competition.
The tournament has ten quarters to participate, starting from the group stage, then advancing to the knockout stage. As revealed by the organizer, the sum of N100,000, N75,000 and N50,000 cash prizes shall be awarded to the winner, runner up and third place respectively.
