The National Senate President of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), Senator Sodiq Yusuf Legacy has denied writing letter to the office of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

In his reaction message made available to newsmen on Wednesday said, this will be his first message to students constituent in this brand new year.

The statement reads;

FOSSU NATIONAL SENATE PRESIDENT’S REACTION TO THE SAID MESSAGE TO GOV. SEYI MAKINDE.

Combatant greetings from the altar of struggle to all and sundry.

Being my first message to students constituent in  this brand new year, I would like to use this opportunity to say compliment of the season to the handsome and beautiful students under the umbrella of our Federation of State Students’ Union (FOSSU).

For more than 18hrs,my attention has been drawn to the said article released from the office of the FOSSU National Senate President.

Firstly, I want to clarify it that I was the Senate President that had meeting with His Excellency Engr Oluseyi Makinde at the Governor’s House at Oyo State Secretariat in Ibadan on the 17th October,2022 where promises highlighted in the article in question (with evidence well kept) and the article was not from me.

Moreso,I will like to equally clear the doubt of every single student cum person out there who is  buried in a great deal of confusion (perhaps as the result of the articles coming from a self acclaimed  FOSSU National Executives) that Sen. Alarape Ibrahim led regime remains the recognized and legitimate FOSSU National Executives.

Hence, no matter how much people assert  there is freedom of speech in Nigeria but freedom after speech is not guaranteed, we cannot silent everyone. We shall continually see fearless people who would find joy in expressing their minds without giving damn to whom son is gun.

I love it when people express their feelings  by reacting to general issues in the state in a constructive manner. Even CRITICISM as a concept is primarily not to condemn but to advance fairness to a matter, issue or phenomenon. The actual sense of this s that part of the article in question addressed some crucial issues and of course concerns of students in the state such as payment of bursary, empowerment and student welfarism in general.

His Excellency, Gov. Oluseyi Makinde made some promises during the meeting he held with students leaders and stakeholders last year and equally mentioned them while he was addressing students on International Students’ Day at ICC University of Ibadan where he promised to fulfil them before year(2022) runs out.

On a sincere note, I personally feel so bitter about this fail in the much anticipated promises because we directly gave his words verbatimly beating our chest confidently to students populace who have been pointing accused fingers to us and calling us names for not being well represented and demonstrateing actions symbolizing lose of confidence in our leadership for not speaking their voice to the higher authority.

I hereby use this avenue to remind Gov. Seyi Makinde his promises to the students of Oyo State and appeal to him to see to them before the month reaches an end.
Thanks!

SODIQ Yusuf (LEGACY)
FOSSU National Senate President,
Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
