Former Oyo Attorney General, 9 Professors Among 62 Lawyers For SAN Rank

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on 62 legal practitioners.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, LPPC’s Secretary and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hajo Sarki Bello, said the affected 62 lawyers comprise 53 from the advocate category and nine from the academic category.

Among the 62 are two prosecutors with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Former Attorney General of Oyo state, Mutalubi Adebayo Ojo.

The statement reads: “The LPPC, under the chairmanship of His Lordship, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, at its 154th plenary session held today, September 29, 2022, has approved the elevation of 62 legal practitioners to the Inner Bar.

“The rank of a SAN is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.

“The swearing-in ceremony of the 62 legal practitioners is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 21, 2022.

“The meeting further approved new guidelines for the conferment of the rank of SAN and all matters pertaining to the rank to guide future exercises.”

Among the new SANs are: Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar; Johnson Tarigho Omophe Ugboduma; Lawrence Sunday Oko-Jaja; Christopher Agbomeirhe Sunday Oshomegie; Sanusi Olugbenga Sai’d; Emmanuel Idemudia Oboh; Diri Said Mohammed; Oladipo Akanmu Tolani; Ayodeji Oyewole Omotoso, and Chijioke Ogbonna Erondu.

Obinna; Yakubu Maikasuwa; Henry Eshijonam Omu; Dagogo Israel Iboroma; Joseph Ademu Akubo; Gozie Bertrand Obi; Inam Akpadiagha Wilson; Abubakar Bature Sulu-Sulu-Gambari; Abioye Araoye Oloyede Asanike; Bolarinwa Elijah Aidi; Tonye Tombere Jenewari Krukrubo; Aderemi Moshood Bashua; Kolapo Olugbenga Kolade, and Samuel Peter Kargbo.

Equally on the list are Ifeanyichukwu Sylvester Obiakor; Olasoji Olaiya Olowolafe; Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo; Victor Odafe Ogude; Sulayman Olawale Ibrahim; Mumini Ishola Hanafi; Tanko Tanko Ashang; Damian Ohakwe Okoro; Andrew Mwajim Malgwi, and Etukwu Onah.
