FESU Commends Oyo State Governor over Change of LAUTECH Name, Charge to Pay Bursary

The indigenous students association of Eruwa, Federation of Eruwa Students Union (FESU) has applauded the Oyo State governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, over the renaming of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso.

In a statement released by the Union President, Comrade Oladiran David on Tuesday, he said the Governor has done well by making the state owned university a conventional one, where it will extend from only science and technological courses.

The Union President said, “After securing LAUTECH to be sole owned by Oyo state government, we should equally appreciate all the giant strides the Governor has been employing. His Excellency at first extended the institution satellite to Iseyin which is expected to boost and develop the Oke Ogun zone of the state. Now, we have the institution to be upgraded to a conventional university where students can study not only science and technology courses”.

“We must applaud the working Governor but we are encouraging him to do more. Other institutions should equally benefit from this government. All zones should be treated fairly.”

“We are calling on the Governor to attend to some challenges affecting other institutions by paying arrears of the lecturers, reduction of school fees and provision of education facilities, payment of bursary to students in the state”.

In a bid to make Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, become a conventional university, the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is considering a change of name for the popular University.

If the state government’s plan sails through, the institution will be known as Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).
