EACOED Nursery & Primary School Organizes 3rd Biennial Inter-house Sports Competition
… Adefabi charges parents to give attention to their wards
The EACOED Nursery and Primary School, Erelu, Oyo has organized her 3rd Biennial Inter-house Sports Competition. The event which came up on Thursday, 31 March, 2022 was held at the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo Sports Complex under the Chairmanship of Arch. H. O. Amuda, Director of Works & Maintenance and Mrs. A. T. Adebimpe, Dean, School of Secondary Education (Vocational and Technical Programmes) as the Chairperson.
In her welcome address, the Host and Chairperson, EACOED Nursery and Primary School Management Board, Mrs. Mope Adebiyi lauded the initiative of Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi-led-College Management that birthed what is today known as EACOED Nursery and Primary School. According to her, “On behalf of the School’s Management Board, I acknowledge and appreciate the presence of our amiable Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi under whose leadership, this Primary School has impressively soared to unbelievable heights”.
While thanking parents for their confidence in the School, the renowned educationist states, “sport is the core part of the school co-curricular activities that sees to the physical well-being of pupils. It is a day when pupils are free from classroom activities to show how physically fit they are and how much progress and skill they have acquired and mastered.” Speaking further, “Sport is a fun and healthy way to keep children busy. Beyond the obvious health benefits of sports, it encourages teamwork. I therefore urge our parents to give needed support to our wards.” The Chairperson finally rounded off her speech by appreciating the entire staff of EACOED Nursery and Primary School
under the leadership of Mr. R. O. Oladosu for sustaining the academic tempo, particularly for their efforts in the planning and execution of the event.
In their separate speeches, the Chairman and Chairperson of the event, Arc. H. O. Amuda and Mrs. Adefunke T. Adebimpe respectively harped on the need for parents and government at all levels to embrace sport and adopt a “catch them young approach” in raising best athletes for the nation.
Declaring the programme open, EACOED Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi, JP expressed his delight at the pace at which the mustard seed initiated and sown few years back is germinating. According to the Iseyin-born Economist, “it all started about eight (8) years ago when the idea of having a new Nursery and Primary School was conceived after the former St. Andrew’s College of Education Nursery and Primary School went into extinction. I appreciate the support got from the College Management towards making the idea coming into fruition. Let me particularly mention the yeoman’s job done by Arc. H.O. Amuda who is the Chairman of today’s event and the support given by Mrs. A. T. Adebimpe, the Chairperson. I therefore on behalf of the College Management congratulate Mrs. Mope Adebiyi and her Management team for their exemplary performance in giving the school a branch.”
Speaking further, the renowned technocrat states, “Sport is a unifying language and knowingly or unknowingly, we all get involved in it. We are all here today to share in the joy of our children who are going to be performing in one competition or the other. I hereby congratulate and welcome all parents to the 3rd Biennial Inter-house Sports Competition as I formally declare the events open”
The competition which had Dr. M. T. Ogunsola of the Department of Physical & Health Education, EACOED as the Sportman of the day was keenly contested and finally, the Green House came 1st, Red House came 2nd while the Yellow House and Blue House came 3rd and 4th positions respectively.
