Renowned Professor of Applied Mathematics, Professor Sunday Olumuyiwa Adewale has been announced as the new Vice Chancellor of Caleb University, Imota Lagos.
The appointment which was announced on Thursday, is coming days after the 14th convocation ceremony of the University.
Adewale was the first former Students Union Government President that ascended the highest administrative position of the academic institutions in the history of Nigeria.
The accomplished academician was born into the Adewale Family in Ajikobi Compound, Alekuso, Ibadan, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He bagged a Bachelor degree, B.Tech (Hons) in Pure and Applied Mathematics, thereafter, he obtained both a Masters of Technology (M.Tech.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Mathematics in 2003 and 2008 respectively.

In his move to build a rich academic profile, had his postdoctoral experience at the University of Manitoba, Canada, after which he returned back to Nigeria to further his professional career as a Lecturer.
The intelligent and outstanding Adewale was elevated to the Professorial rank in 2016, he has equally served as the head of students affairs unit at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
The Professor of Mathematics has served various key positions, at the academic and administrative levels such as Staff Adviser of Pure and Applied Mathematics Student Association, Staff Adviser Faculty of Pure and Applied Science Students Association, Head of Department, Pure and Applied Mathematics, and National Vice President, LAUTECH Alumni Association. He was also the Chairman Board of Survey, Acting Chairman, Board of Pre-degree Science, member of the Visitation Panel and Member of Governing Council of Caleb University 2019 and 2021 respectively.
He is a member of numerous professional bodies, including the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, USA, National Association of Mathematical Physics, Nigerian Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of Nigeria.
Until his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the Caleb University, he was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the institution. Professor Sunday Olumuyiwa Adewale took over from the former Vice Chancellor, Professor Nosa Owens Ibie, following the expiration of his tenure.
