Bello Mohammed Emerges APC Governorship Candidate In Zamfara

Governor Bello Mohammed has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara State.

The Chairman, Electoral Committee for the APC Governorship Primary Election in the state, Babagana Tijjani, announced that the governor polled 733 votes to emerge as the winner of the primary election.

Governor Bello Mohammed had emerged as the party’s standard flag bearer unopposed, as other aspirants in the race stepped down from the contest as a result of the consensus arrangement in Zamfara State.

The Electoral Committee Chairman announced that Governor Bello Mohammed, having scored the highest number of votes was hereby declared the winner of the primary election.

735 delegates voted at the APC Governorship Primary Election which Governor Bello Mohammed got 733 votes, while two votes were invalid.

Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, Governor Bello Mohammed thanked the delegates for voting him to be the candidate of the party in the 2023 General Election.

He promised to work with party stakeholders to deepen democratic practices in the state.

The former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, said the reconciliation between the two factions of the APC is in the best interest of the state.

He urged members and supporters to come together, to ensure that Governor Bello Mohammed wins his second term bid in the 2023 General Election.

The exercise was carried out peacefully without rancour and acrimony, in the presence of security agents, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the media.

It was held at the Sardauna Memorial Stadium in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
