Assembly Candidate, Aderounmu Reacts To Vandalization Of Campaign Posters, Billboards In Constituency
House of Assembly Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ibarapa East State Constituency, Hon Bayo Aderounmu has condemned the vandalization of campaign posters and billboards belonging to party candidates in the local government area by unknown persons.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Media and Communication, condemned the action and warned those sponsoring political hoodlums to desist from such acts.
Aderounmu described the action as unfortunate and unacceptable which is against the interest of peace that Ibarapa is known for.
“We want to condemn in totality the destruction of our campaign posters and billboards, it’s nothing but an act of political cowardice and apparent helplessness by some political jobbers who have perceived their impending defeat in the next general election.
“Therefore, we call on the Nigeria Police Force, the State Security Service and other security agencies to rise to the occasion by bringing to book the perpetrators of this ignoble act in order to serve as a deterrent to others.”
He urged security agencies to remain completely impartial in order to discourage politicians who, rather than engaging in the legitimate process of campaigning for votes, boast of using state or federal might in the forthcoming elections.
Aderounmu added that it is the responsibility of everybody to ensure that our community maintains its reputation for free, fair and credible election process.
