Appeal Court Affirms Oba Lateef Olawuyi Olagoke Ilufemiloye Ilufemiloye As Onilala of Lanlate, Award N500,000 Fine Against Sunday Oladejo
The Ibadan Judicial Division of the Court of Appeal on Thursday affirmed Oba Lateef Olawuyi Olagoke (Ilufemiloye) as the legal monarch, Onilala of Lanlate.
On the legitimacy of Sunday Oladejo Bolawaye as the Onilala of Lanlate, the court has dismissed his claim as the rightful occupant of the position.
The court in a unanimous decision found merit in the Appeal filed by Oba Lateef Olawuyi Olagoke Ilufemiloye and others, therefore declared his removal as Onilala of Lanlate, illegal, null, void and of no effect.
In the lead judgment, read by Hon. Justice B. F Zubairu, (JCA), a sum of five hundred thousand naira fine was awarded against Sunday Oladejo and other respondents.
Recall that Oba Abdul Lateef Olawuyi Olagoke was removed as the Onilala of Lanlate in the year 2012.
A case marked HER/6/2012 was instituted at the High Court of Oyo State and ruled in favour of Sunday Oladejo.
Dissatisfied with the ruling of the Oyo State High Court, Oba Abdul Lateef Olawuyi Olagoke Ilufemiloye approached the Court of Appeal to seek redress.
The implication of this judgment is that Oba Abdul Lateef Olawuyi Olagoke Ilufemiloye is the valid and legal Onilala of Lanlate.
