REJECTION OF ZONING ARRANGEMENTS INSTITUTED BY STAKEHOLDERS OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS IN IBARAPA CENTRAL AND NORTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

We read with total dismay and rejection the resolution of the All Progressive Congress stakeholders from Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency on the zoning permutations as released by some online media outfit in recent time.

It is undemocratic for anybody to have agreed on zoning arrangements or consensus that doesn’t have the approval of all aspirants vying for political position in the progressive fold, it is against the constitution of All Progressive Congress (APC) and that of the federal republic of Nigeria.

At the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of our party, All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abuja recently, President Muhammadu Buhari warned leaders of the party to against imposition of unpopular candidates for the 2023 general election. Fielding such candidate that are not popular will orchestrate more stress for the party and might even lead to unfulfillment of target.

The fundamental rights of all political parties to field candidates of their choices and the right of voters to freely exercise choices over who leads them should not be compromised.

Party members should be allowed to exercise their rights according to the laws of the country and the electoral laws, anything otherwise is undemocratic.

We want to warn the party stakeholders to do away with all manner of zoning arrangements and imposition of candidates with impunity.

The stakeholders and leaders of our party, All Progressive Congress (APC) should allow the supremacy as enshrined in the party constitution to dominate.

The party should allow a level playing ground for all aspirants, they should all be allowed to test their popularity at the poll, anyone that emerges should take the lead. That will equally help the party in furtherance to the general election.

Imposing candidate on the people or zoning will subvert the will of the people and also dangerous for the party. Let’s be reminded about what happened at Zamfara during the last general election, indirect primary is the best for us.

Failure on the part of the stakeholders of our party to correct the wrong treatment amounts to deepening the popular candidates deprivation and further crisis.
