Alliance of Yoruba Youths Condemns Attack on Sunday Igboho

A Yoruba group, Alliance of Yoruba Youths Council Worldwide has condemned what it called an attack on the Yoruba Activist Sunday Igboho by the federal government saying it’s totally threat to life and breach on right to personal property and liberty.

The reported attack is coming hours to a planned rally for the secession of ‘Yoruba Nation’ in Lagos State. Igboho has been going across the South-West geopolitical zone to crusade his secessionist campaign, citing injustice meted out to the people of the region as well as worsening insecurity as reasons for his agitation.

Igboho, at various times, had supported the secessionist agitation of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is in the custody of the Nigerian security forces for alleged terrorism-related charges.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday, the Oyo State Chairman of AYYCW, Comrade Adedokun Sunday said it’s becoming unbearable and out of sense for a government that is expected to protect us now coming after our lives.

He said, “Our attention has been drawn to the fresh attack on the Yoruba Activist Sunday Igboho whose house was vandalized, properties destroyed and loss of lives. We learnt that men of Nigeria Army were given the assignment, this will be the third time they will be carrying out this evil plot. This time around it is more bloody, we can all see through the viral videos”

“We are using this medium to call on the President Buhari administration to shun nepotism and all forms of attack on our people. For a very long time we have been complaining of insecurity mostly perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, the President has been pretending not to have heard us”

“We condemn in totality the attack on Sunday Igboho and other freedom fighters, we can’t keep silent in the face of oppression, insecurity, humiliation that surrounded this government anymore”

“It’s obvious that the present government has been launching attack on the Southerners, it’s not by force, let’s go differently. We can’t be living together with people that do not want us live”, he added.
