
The founder of Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) and federal house of representative hopeful in Ibarapa Central/North federal constituency, Engr. (Dr) David Olusegun Okanlawon, on Sunday commiserated with entire Oodua descendants over the death of the first class monarch in the Yoruba race, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo.
Okanlawon in his condolence message which was made available to newsmen on Sunday said, “It is with great shock I receive the transition news of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Alaafin of Oyo. This happened barely months after we took solace in God’s decision following the transition of notable monarchs in Yoruba land.
Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the ruler of the Oyo empire was admitted into Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ekiti and reportedly died in the late hours of Friday.
“Alaafin, is a symbol of true leadership, his style of ruling symbolises servanthood and his level of stalwartness speaks for itself.
“We pray that God forgives him and grants the entire Yoruba race the fortitude to bear the loss”, Okanlawon added.
Alaafin Adeyemi, the third from the Alowolodu Ruling House, died in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State in South-West Nigeria.
He was 83 years old and the longest reigning Alaafin ever, having ruled for more than 51 years.
