In the wake of a devastating stampede at the Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, a governorship aspirant for Oyo State 2027 election, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem known as AKK, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic experience.
The stampede, which occurred earlier on Wednesday at an event organized to support 5,000 children in celebration of the festive season, recorded multiple fatalities and numerous injuries.
In a statement made available to reporters on Thursday morning, Adewale Kolapo Kareem offered his deepest sympathies to the grieving families, particularly those who tragically lost loved ones. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in this heart-wrenching incident. Our hearts go out to the parents whose joy has suddenly turned to mourning due to these needless deaths,” AKK said.
The stampede occurred during a large gathering at the venue, which was reportedly filled with families who had gathered to participate in a celebratory event. While the exact cause of the stampede is still under investigation, witnesses have reported that panic spread among the crowd, resulting in a fatal crush.
Speaking further on the sad occurrence, AKK prayed that God should comfort the families involved.
“In this moment of grief, we stand with the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy. We must also extend our deepest sympathies to the Oyo State Government, which is undoubtedly working hard to manage the aftermath of this unfortunate event.
“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may the families find strength and solace in this difficult time. We are with you,” he added.
