2023 Election: Sandy Onor Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate In Cross River State
The Senator representing Cross River Central in the National Assembly, Sandy Onor, has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Cross River state.
Onor defeated his rivals, Senator Gershom Bassey of Cross River South, with 236 votes while Gershom Bassey polled 175 votes and a member of house of representatives, Daniel Asuquo polled 147 Votes.
Announcing the result, Chairman of the Cross River State PDP primary election panel, Babajide Cooker, said Sandy Onor, having scored the highest number of votes won the primary election.
In his acceptance speech ,Onor promised to take government to the people of Cross River State when elected governor in 2023 general elections.
One of the aspirants,Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo accepted the result describing it as transparent,even as the Chairman of the PDP Venatius Ikem lauded the process.
Others who participated in the elections were Arthur Jarvis Archibong, Ima-Nsa Adegoke,Coco Bassey,while former deputy governor, Efiok Cobham, pulled out of the race earlier before the poll commenced.
